Hello Friends.
Saying the long goodbye to our dogs (or anyone for that matter) is never easy. In the past three weeks I’ve known several people who have had to do this — to “put down their dog”.
In spite of intellectually understanding death’s inevitability…
In spite of the fact that many of us have the great fortune of watching our dogs age gracefully into their senior years with the hope that we can accept their death easier…..
In spite of these things, when the time arrives to end our dog’s life it’s emotionally tough for all the humans involved.
Humane euthanasia is the final act of love and kindness and respect that we can give to our dogs. It’s death with dignity.
What makes this end of life process easier for Adam and I is the relationship we have with our veterinarian. We trust him one hundred percent; no questions asked.
He’s always been there for us. And he was there for all of us two weeks ago when it was time to say farewell to Percy.
On Wednesday, February 5th, Percy died with dignity in his own home, on his favorite bed, cuddled and surrounded by people he loved and who, in turn, loved him.
This issue is dedicated to the memory of Percy — the Great White Anatolian Shepherd.
His many exploits, shenanigans and misadventures made him a local legend. In our home his legendary presence is deeply missed.
Percy was a special dog to so many people.
Rest in Peace Percy ♡
So beautifully expressed— and so very true. My thoughts and prayers go with you … 🐾🙏💞.
